Utah Skate parks near me: Top 5 skate spots to consider checking out
Looking for the perfect roller skating spot?
When it comes to roller skating it’s important to find the perfect skate spot, just like it’s important to have safety gear. It’s exciting to be so passionate about a new found hobby. And you’ll want to keep that fire alive, so why stress about where you should go skate. Here are 5 skate spots to consider checking out in Utah.
Indoor skate parks to check out
Indoor skate parks are a good place to check out. If you are looking to cruise around, and wanting to vibe, check out Classic Skating. They are open Monday-Saturday. On Saturday nights they offer disco skating and encourage you to dress up in your best disco fit. Note that you must be 16 years or older to participate, also fun for a skate night date idea.
Another option for indoor skating is WoodWard pictured above. They have indoor ramps, bowls, and rails for grinding. During warmer months they have a skate park open outdoors. For the roller skaters who want to get extreme or maybe just feel like going outside for the day, Woodward has both options for whichever you prefer.
Liberty Park Salt Lake City and Jordan Park
Liberty park in Salt Lake City is the second largest public park that SLC has. With a track that is 1.5 miles long that makes it perfect for practicing distance skating, speed skating, or just cruising and jamming out to your favorite playlist.
A good spot to practice roller skating techniques would be at Jordan Park Beehive Polo Courts. There are two outdoor polo court rinks that are just perfect for skating. They are just south of the International Peace Garden. During Summer/Fall @slcskatebabes will be holding skating events with themes every Monday night. Check out their Instagram for when these events will be held at the Beehive Polo courts.
Roller skating can be great exercise for stress relief. Skating by yourself can be a good way to destress, and decompress after the normal 9-5. Sometimes you just want to go somewhere close by.
Basketball courts/Outdoor tennis courts near me
Outdoor basketball courts are fun places to skate and usually easy to find. Locate the nearest outdoor public park. Be sure to double check if there are any basketball players on the courts. Just like roller skaters don’t want their groove to be messed with, neither do basketball players. Tennis courts can be a good place to practice bubbling technique because the concrete is smoother with less cracks so you can focus more on technique and worry less about tripping on cracks. Check out tennis courts that aren’t used very often during spring/summer. The newer the tennis courts are, the more people will want to enjoy them.
Roller skating rinks are not the only option
Maybe you’re feeling like you need to get outdoors more, If you keep your eyes open you will be able to find a good spot to help you master your skating skills. If you get creative, and take a cruise on your roller skates you may find the spot you didn’t know you were looking for, just be sure to keep a lookout for cars. If you’re wanting to track your process a great app to download would be Let’s Roll. It’s a new skating app that allows you to meet other roller skaters, and show your process and new places to roller skate, as well as capture your skating moments with the option of sharing them.
